Softies for Mirabel

The amazing Pip from Meet me At Mikes is organising Softies for Mirabel for the third consecutive year. (I'm a bit slow on the uptake so this is my first year to be involved!).
So what is the Mirabel Foundation? "Mirabel assists children who have been orphaned or abandoned due to parental illicit drug use and are now in the care of extended family (kinship care). Mirabel believes that every child deserves a childhood and its mission is to break the destructive cycle of addiction and disadvantage."
The Softies for Mirabel programme is part of the Mirabel Toy Drive and gives such children a lovely, handmade toy. I understand that the programme hopes to collect 700 softies this year.
Below is Harry Highpants. He is winging his way to Melbourne to find someone to cuddle him. If you want to take part visit Meet Me at Mikes. There's lots of info about what to do and where to find patterns.

bye bye boys

I visited the shop today. It's Sous le Soleil in Roseville and the two women who run the retail arm of the business (it's a restaurant too) are just lovely.
I've recently finished an order for them which included these two little space boys. I try to make each one different but they are both very cuddly and sweet.
I'm also in the midst of applying for the Youngblood market at the Powerhouse Museum. It's very competitive and the form is a bit daunting but it would be fabulous to get in. The market is held over a Friday night and Saturday and it's indoors which means no stock blowing over or away and nothing get rained on. :) But I must get back to it lest I procrastinate too long!
