Isn't it wonderful when we can learn from our kids...My gorgeous girl turned eight recently and decided to eschew the notion of gifts for her party. (She allowed family to give her presents but no-one else.)
Instead of gifts she asked people to bring a donation for the charity Turn on the Tap. This organisation provides safe drinking water for people in the developing world. Thanks to all her friends and relatives she raised more than enough money for a community well. (She was very delighted with her certificate.) Now Elijah wants to do the same thing for his birthday party this year!
