Hip Hooray!

A bit of unqualified boasting coming up....

I entered my felt flower scarf in the June Living Creatively scarf competition (scroll down) and... I won! Lucky me! Every month online mag Living Creatively holds a competition to find the best handmade.... something.

I made another one this week for someone at church. She chose grey and red and it came out like this: I'll be making more scarves when I come back from holidays. I've run out of my contrast colours.

What else has been happening in the Barnett/Watson household apart from colds, infections and general nose-blowing...

Tim had a hair cut which scared all of us no end. Since the last school holidays he has neither shaved nor trimmed his hair. It's been like living with a middle-aged anthropologist. All for a good cause, he assured me. It was to be removed (the beard, at least) by the end of term 2.

And the results? A curly mohawk and a handlebar moustache courtesy of a cancer fundraiser at school. Jake and Elijah were particularly wary of this strange looking man. Lucy told him he looked like a bank robber. Mercifully he has shaved off the hideous mo and ghastly mohawk but after months of a woolly beard and flufffy hair, he is quite cold. Beanies to bed.... how romantic!
