What's in a name?

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."
Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)

Over the past six months I've been thinking about my name. Well not my name, but my little business name. When I started out a while back I was only making cards. But things have changed, Cath is insanely busy at work and I'm making a whole range of products.

So what's wrong with rosebarnett ?

Well nothing. Except that it doesn't really indicate anything about what I'm making. And the normal response of customers is that I must be Rose.

So, you get the pun. Neat huh.

But what to do? Seek help from you!

Just to throw a spanner in the works I think I'd like to keep the red shoes as a logo.

So I need to find a shortish, witty, memorable name that kinda indicates what I'm making or at least what my design sensibilities are...

So far I've only come up with two.
  • twice - as in I make things out of recycled stuff so everything is used twice
  • vintage foundlings - a foundling is an old fashioned word for orphan so it uses the notion of "orphaned" materials while connecting to the vintage theme

Any suggestions, comments... Did I mention that there will be a prize for the best name or the best reason for why I should go with one of the above names or a persuasive enough argument to stick with what I've got? (Did that last sentence actually make sense?)

The prize... well it's going to be one of my things of course.

So please, can you help?

I love the name Circle and I think it fits into your creations as they come full circle to become something else.... I also like your second business name option...and I agree you should keep the shoes as your logo loving them....all the best. I'm in the process of changing my logo and colour scheme....But I'm keeping the name...Good Luck babe!
