Vegemite toast and a cuppa in bed! I had to share the toast with Elijah but I slept in til 7.30 and didn't have to dress anyone except myself! Luxury.
I get Mothers' Day now. Not the ridiculous presents that department stores hope we will buy. (Who buys their mother a coffee machine or a plasma TV?) But I get the breakfast in bed thing, the handmade cards and the specialness of having a day when people think looking after little ones (and not so little ones) is valuable and say thanks!
Since having kids I regularly ring my mum to say, "Thanks", "Sorry" and "What on earth should I do....." She's still very much a mum, helping out with my kids, even coming over when I get sick to make me tea and tell me she loves me. I guess you never stop being a parent. Now that I have my own three beauties I appreciate so much more what she did for me and my siblings when we were growing up. I recognise her sacrifices and I am so grateful for the fantastic opportunities she has given me in life. Not that I'm a concert pianist or a brilliant surgeon or anything BIG like that. But if I had wanted to be she would have supported me all the way.
Of course the most important thing she gave me - more important than dental hygiene, good dietary advice, a love of books and an ability to laugh at myself - more important than all that stuff was the knowledge that God loves me no matter what. For any believer that's the most important thing of all.
Getting all misty now... But to mums everywhere, especially my own - you're amazing and you do the most important job in the world!

Actually, I wouldn't mind the TV!
Sorry, I am not good at just letting spelling mistakes go...
I agree with everything you have said about your mum. She's great and I am sure that you are being a lovely mum too.
